Hi, we have booked to come home in April 2022 We are flying in from the UK and Ive just read that Magical Express wont be available next year! What is the best way to get from MCO to Copper Creek? We loved this service and are sad to see it go.

    Hi Kerry!

Welcome to planDisney! I too was disappointed to hear that Disney’s Magical Express will not be offered beginning January 1, 2022. As the mother of four, we always found this service to be easy and convenient and we will miss heading to the “Mickey Bus.”

There are several transportation options available, and I suspect that there may be even more options as 2022 approaches. If you are a smaller traveling party, you may find a taxi or ride-share service to be the most efficient and cost-effective, and this would be my top recommendation. For larger groups, Mears Taxi offers taxi vans as well. One of the nice things about these options is that it would be a direct trip to Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and you wouldn't need to stop to drop off other Guests at multiple resorts. There are also shuttle vans and limousine services available, as well as car rental.

The Orlando International Airport website does have a helpful ground transportation page showing approximate rates for the various options you may want to look at. Since it sounds like you are a Disney Vacation Club Member, know that Members receive complimentary overnight parking at Disney Vacation Club Villa Resorts. And as a Disney Resort Collection Guest, you also receive complimentary theme park parking. This would be important to consider when looking at renting a car.

While there are still many details to be worked out, Mears Transportation, the company that contracted with Disney for Disney’s Magical Express has announced its plans to continue its own shuttle service beginning in January 2022, called Mears Connect. While the cost has not been published yet, you can sign up on the Mears website for updates, and they have stated they will begin taking reservations this month. I would guess that this new service will be very similar to Disney’s Magical Express, only with an associated cost. As a mom traveling with four children, I am interested to learn more details about this new service, as I am hoping it will be the most convenient for large groups and especially those with small children. I would recommend waiting until more information is available about the new Mears Connect as it may be a good option for you as well.

I hope this helps as you begin your planning, Kerry. Stay tuned for more information!
