Hi Emily Rose!
Welcome to planDisney.
It's always a pleasure to assist my fellow guests from the UK, and I'm so happy to see that you are returning to
Disney's Wilderness Lodge next year - that is my absolute favourite Disney Resort hotel and I'm proud to call it my 'home from home'.
You're correct, they have changed the names of the room categories. It's not a straight swap from one name to another, some of them overlap the previous locations, as follows:
Fireworks View (replaces some Nature View rooms) with views of landscape, or Copper Creek Villas & Cabins and partial view of fireworks.
Resort View (replaces some Nature View, and some Standard View rooms) with views of landscape, trees, rooftop or parking areas.
Water View (replaces Courtyard View rooms) with views of pool, waterfall, Bay Lake or Copper Creek.
It's all down to where your room is located. I stayed in a Resort View room last May and had a view of Cinderella Castle and the fireworks! I could also see the Copper Creek cabins and some of the service areas. The closer you are to the lobby, the more of the service and parking areas you will see. I recommend you do an internet search of room numbers at Wilderness Lodge, and then send in a room number request (via your travel agent, or The Walt Disney Travel Company International if they made your booking for you). Room requests cannot be guaranteed, but you might be lucky to be allocated a room close to your choice. I would guess I've been successful with my room location choice about 75% of the time.
As this is your favourite Disney Resort hotel, I don't need to tell you how beautiful it is! I love sitting by Geyser Point, overlooking Bay Lake - it's so peaceful! I highly recommend visiting Territory Lounge as their
new bar menu is delicious. Also, since your last visit, the Blue Flag launch is now sailing between Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort (daily, 3.00-10.45pm on a continuous loop) which is great for a relaxing afternoon activity, or if you want to visit the other two resort hotels.
Please come back if you have any further questions -
you can also send me a direct question about Wilderness Lodge, or anything to help with planning your holiday at Walt Disney World. We will be happy to help!
Sue
