We are booked for a Fort Wilderness Cabin next month. I had seen mention on an unofficial website that disc golf is one of the recreational options at the campground. Can you confirm if this is true?

Hi, Timothy, and welcome back to planDisney! Your trip is just around the river bend, and I bet you are ready for some Florida sunshine.

I am so glad you brought your question to us so we can verify what you found on an unofficial website. While fan sites can certainly be accurate at times, I've found them just as likely to share inaccurate or outdated information. It can be hard to know the difference, so checking with the Mouse himself is the way to go.

I'm thrilled to confirm that disc golf is a recreational activity available at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. I know there isn't much official information online about this, so I spoke with a friendly Cast Member to get the scoop for you. Disc golf is a complimentary activity and is installed throughout the resort. Maps are available at the Bike Barn, so go there first and pick one up to help guide you on your disc golf adventure. You can also check out equipment there, or you are welcome to use your own.

To help you get around to all the different areas where disc golf can be found, consider Golf Cart Rental. You'll want to reserve in advance since carts are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.

Timothy, while I was looking into this for you, I wondered if you are aware of the other recreational activities available to you during your stay. Some of the more unique activities exclusive to this resort include archery, wagon rides, canoe rentals and kayak rentals, just to name a few.

For me, no visit to Fort Wilderness is complete without paying a visit to the Pioneer Hall Players at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. This slapstick comedy-style musical dinner show is lively, funny and delicious. I must say I do love the fried chicken and the straw...strawberry...strawberry shortcake. If this is something you are interested in, be sure to make a reservation as soon as you can.

I hope you have so much fun playing disc golf and that you'll come back to planDisney with any other questions.

    Have a magical trip!
    Melanie
