we have just booked our first visit to animal kingdom - kidani - we were not planning on renting a car -- how far is the furthest room from the bus stop. We will be traveling with 4 children ages 1-3. Can I request a room closer to the bus stop?

    Hi Larry:

The Animal Kingdom Lodge's Resorts are laid out like necklaces (actually, "Kidani" is the Swahili word for "necklace"), and rooms are laid out across the "necklace." The further down either side of the "necklace" your room is located, the further the walk to the lobby, pool and bus areas. During our last stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, our room was the furthest away from the lobby area. It resulted in about five extra minutes of walking than if our room was located right by the lobby. However, we did not mind the stroll because the Animal Kingdom Lodge is laid out brilliantly with many widows along the Resort's hallways overlooking the savannas. As we walked to our Resort room (which had a savanna view), my kids usually ended up stopping along the way to watch the animals walking through the savanna.

If you want a Room close to the lobby, I would let Disney know now, but more importantly, I would contact the Resort about a week before check-in. Room-requests are not guaranteed, but if Disney is able to honor your request, they will make every effort to do so. I would even make the request again when you check in. It may help if you are flexible with your check in time and can wait until the right room opens up. Disney will try to accommodate any requests, but it may not be able to do so.

    Enjoy your vacation.
