We just booked our first trip to Disney this March-I'm having a hard time deciding on dining reservations-we have the dining plan but how do you know if you'll be ready for dinner at 6? And how do we know how long it will take us to get from our resort?

    Hi Amanda,

A first trip to Walt Disney World is like a rite of passage and I'm so excited for your family!

Definitely secure Advance Dining Reservations for your March vacation. Walt Disney World can be crowded during March and I wouldn't want you to stop by a restaurant and find out that there were no walk-ins available. This is very likely or you'll discover at 7 p.m. that the restaurant has no openings until 9 p.m. It's better to plan ahead.

Figure out what time you'll be getting up each day to begin your park touring. At home, what time are you hungry for dinner if you got up at 7:00 a.m.? Also note that you'll be doing a lot of walking in fresh air which tends to bring on those hunger pains quicker.

What you need to do now is draft an itinerary for your trip. If you'll be at the Magic Kingdom, secure a reservation for a restaurant there or at a nearby resort. Will you be going back to your resort in the late afternoon and heading back to the park at dinner time? Allow one hour of travel time!

If you let us know your dates, we can even suggest which park is best for touring each day.

I design my Advance Dining Reservations around where we'll be that evening. If we are touring Epcot, we'll leave our resort at 4:00 p.m. for a 5:30 p.m. reservation in World Showcase. It's a LONG walk back to France in Epcot.

Let us know if we can help further. I would definitely reserve your meals as soon as possible!
