We have booked our first Disney trip for the week after Thanksgiving! I have reservations at CRT (dinner) and Akershus (breakfast) to please my 5 y/o daughter. Any must-do dining suggestions for our 16 y/o son?

    Hi Meredith,

I'm going to assume that your son isn't looking for a character dining experience (although a lot of 16 year olds really do enjoy it).

Is he a picky eater or is he a bit of a foodie?  If he's into fine dining, then California Grill is a wonderful treat.  Try to get a reservation later in the evening.  They'll dim the lights and pipe in music from the fireworks as you dine.  There's even a balcony where you can go for a better view.  If you can't get in exactly during that time (those reservations go quickly), you'll be allowed to come back up to the balcony to watch Wishes.

If you're looking for fun dining, 50s Prime Time Cafe is always a good choice.  I also like Teppan Edo in Japan at Epcot.  It's a hibachi style restaurant which will most likely entertain the entire family.

If you're staying at a resort that makes traveling to the Polynesian easy, think about going to Kona Cafe for breakfast.  The atmosphere isn't anything special, but the Tonga Toast will probably score high marks.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
