I have just booked my first disney trip since I was a teenager. My children will be 22 months and 7 years at the time of the trip. I'm worried my daughter won't be able to ride most of the rides since I have to stay with the baby? What would you recommend?

    Hi Maria ~

I am so excited that you are planning a trip to Disney World with your children. There is nothing like seeing the magic through their eyes.

I've been taking my boys to Disney since they were born so I have experience traveling with little ones. I have also made solo trips to the parks with them.

There will be plenty of rides, shows, and activities that you can all do together. Many of the rides accommodate 3 Guests including favorites like Dumbo and Peter Pan's Flight. You will be able to hold your little on your lap or right beside you. You can take your kids on any of the rides where they meet the height requirements. Keep in mind that just because a child meets a height requirement, doesn't mean that attraction is right for them (i.e., Haunted Mansion). All children are different. This link for Planning for Pre-School Kids & Little Ones will help you.

You could also consider in-park assistance through the independent childcare provider Kid's Nite Out. In addition to providing one-on-one babysitting services in your Walt Disney World Resort hotel room, they offer also offer services where you can reserve a childcare specialist to accompany you and your kids to the parks. They can provide a helping hand so that you could ride some of the bigger attractions with your daughter while they wait with your 22 month old.

Perhaps you could enlist a grandparent or friend to travel with you. If not, plan ahead and let your 7 year old know that there will be some attractions that may have to wait until both of them are a little older. That way she will not be disappointed once you reach the parks.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
