Jennifer from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I have booked a Disneyland Hotel CA and a ticket package that includes Genie Plus. My question is, when staying at the Disneyland Hotel can I purchase an Individual Lightning Lane before I enter the parks in the morning?

Hi there, Jennifer, and welcome back to planDisney!

It's nice to hear from you again and congrats on your upcoming visit to the Disneyland Resort! That's great that you have a Disneyland Resort Vacation Package and you're going to be staying at my favorite Resort, the Disneyland Hotel. You'll be receiving your tickets four days before arrival and don't forget your magical extras like discounts at the Downtown Disney District and your pin and lanyard!

In response to your question, your ticket must be scanned in to one of the Parks before being able to purchase your first Individual Lightning Lane or using Genie+ to book your first Lightning Lane attraction. In fact, if you are able to make Rope Drop first thing in the morning, the Main Entrance gates open up approximately 40-45 minutes before official opening and you'll be able to begin booking Individual and regular Lightning Lanes as soon as you enter. Not only that, but since you are a guest of the Disneyland Hotel, you'll have Early Entry benefits, so you'll be able to begin hopping onto attractions 30 minutes before the general public! Just make sure your reserved Park matches the Early Entry schedule.

Will you be enjoying the dishes on offer at the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival while you are there? I love purchasing a Sip and Savor Pass and sampling a little of everything there. I definitely tend to lean more towards the sweet dishes! Check out the Foodie Guide if you want to see what to expect!

Fun Fact: The Disneyland Hotel opened on October 5, 1955, nearly three months after Disneyland Park opened its gates. It boasted 104 guest rooms among five two-story complexes. Room rates ranged from $9 for a standard room to $22 for a deluxe room!

Jennifer, I hope that this was helpful for you as you plan your trip! Please drop by again because you're always welcome at planDisney and we'd love to continue being involved in your planning. I wish you a truly magical trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
