We have booked our 1st Disney vacation for Sept 21st-28th. My husband and I have 4 boys (8,6,5,2). Our 8yr old will be celebrating his 9th bday on Sept 24th. Is there any extra fun things we can plan? We have a 6 day base pass. Any itenerary advise?

    Hi Joyce!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

Since this is your first trip to Walt Disney World, I recommend picking up the tour book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a great book for first time visitors as it is full of information, but is not overwhelming.  It is also a beautiful book full of color photographs.

To help plan your days, I recommend visiting the independent website TouringPlans.Com.  They are famous in the Disney fan community for producing a crowd calendar that predicts the crowd levels in the various parks on specific days.  They make recommendations on which parks to visit on which days and which to avoid.  You can use their recommendations to plan your trip.  Their recommendations are based on a lot of math and years of data collection.  As an engineer, I'm a huge fan of their work.

For the birthday celebration, be sure to make an Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR) for a Disney Character Dining Experience.  I recommend Chef Mickey's with 4 boys.  Another great option, minus the characters, is the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge.  You can ask for a special birthday cake when you get to the restaurant.

I hope this helps!  Write back if you have any more questions!
