We are booked for our 1st Disney Vacation 09/15/12-09/22/12. Our 180 ADR window will open next month and I want to be prepared. Our kids will be 6(f) and 4(m). Would you mind giving u some dining recommendations for our trip?

    Hi Susanne,

Your first Disney vacation is so exciting!

With children ages 6 and 4, I definitely recommend character dining.  It's so much fun!  Some of my favorites are:

    • Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom - features Winnie the Pooh and friends.
    • Tusker House in Animal Kingdom - character breakfast featuring Donald, Mickey and pals dressed for safari.
    • Chef Mickey's - classic Disney pals in a festive atmosphere
    • Akershus  in Epcot - Princess dining - again, I prefer breakfast at this location
    • Hollywood & Vine at Hollywood Studios - breakfast & lunch feature favorite characters from Disney Junior

Of course, there are some other fun dining options that don't include characters: 'Ohana and Whispering Canyon Cafe are some of the most fun places in Walt Disney World to go for dinner.  Biergarten in Epcot is also a family favorite.

'Ohana and Chef Mickey's are wildly popular.  If you want to get reservations there, I suggest you make those ADRs first.  They seem to fill up quickly.

Hope this helps get you started.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
