Ahoy there Brent, thanks for sailing our way here at planDisney! Kicking off the new year by escaping our Midwestern winter, huh? Great plan, and one my family typically makes most years, as well!
What's this, your first time cruising ever?! Well ring the bell and blare the ship's horn, you and your crew are in for the best Disney vacation around! I may be a bit biased, but get ready to become absolutely addicted to sailing the high seas with Captain Minnie, Captain Mickey, and all their friends.
You've picked a great itinerary to start, as the 7-Night Western Caribbean sailings are a wonderful introduction to the Disney Fantasy, as well as all the magic all the ships on the fleet offer! When it comes to
Port Adventures, there are definitely some in Cozumel and Grand Cayman that can be fun for your entire crew! With 5-year-old twins, I'm sure you'll be looking for something exciting, interesting, or otherwise exhausting!
Now, it's important to note that many of the more active Port Adventures do have minimum age requirements. As such, I'm sorry to say that those like the
Off-Road ATV and Beach Break in Cozumel require Guests to be at least 12 years old to ride, or 18 or older to drive. But not to worry, there are still tons of other family-friendly options on both island paradises!
I know when my extended crew visited Grand Cayman, my nieces and nephew loved their experience at the
Stingray Sandbar and Stingray City. There's something about interacting with stingrays that is just so cool! If you'd like a closer look "Under the Sea" as Sebastian sang, I'm also a big fan of the
Atlantis Submarine adventures available on both Cozumel and Grand Cayman! With the amazingly clear water, there's nothing like showing your kids a real-life reef like the ones they've probably only seen when watching "Finding Nemo!"
If you're still looking for other adventures to consider, I'd suggest heading over to the Port Adventures page and
filtering by Cozumel and Grand Cayman to get an idea of the potential offerings and age limits! Oh, I almost forgot: whenever my family books excursions, we always stick to official Disney Cruise Line Port Adventures for the ease and peace of mind they offer. From getting you to the tour operator, to ensuring you won't be left behind if your return to the ship is delayed, there is nothing like not having to worry!
I hope that helps clear the way for some smooth sailing for you and your crew, Brent! Thank you so much for your question, and if you have any others as you continue planning, please drop another message in a bottle my way here at planDisney!
Adventure is out there - now go find it!
