We are booked on the Disney Dream this August. Can anyone tell me more about the Bottom Fishing excursion at Castaway Cay? We have a 6 year old daughter. Is this excursion appropriate for younger children?

    Hi, Richard!

That's so wonderful that you're sailing on the Disney Dream next month -- she is a spectacular and oh-so stylish ship! You are going to think you're living a dream when you sail.

Castaway Cay Bottom Fishing can be very exciting since the guides know their way around the islands and know where the fish are biting.  Yet, it's shallow-water fishing  Therefore, the boat stays still in the water for long periods of time.  And if there are some serious fisherman on board, they like for you to be quiet, too. Plus, there is no bathroom on the boat and just a little shade.

So, with all that said, if your little princess is an avid angler...then, by all means, take her on this fantastic adventure. However, I would talk it over with her ahead of time to make sure she knows the circumstances.

The Castaway Cay Port Adventures that my children have enjoyed most are the Stingray Encounter, the Glass Bottom Boat, Snorkeling and the various rentals such as kayaks, bikes and tubes. I hope this helps you plan.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
