Ahoy, Jill! Welcome back to planDisney and thanks for bringing us your Disney Cruise Line question. I absolutely love combining a stay at the
Walt Disney World Resort with a sailing aboard Disney Cruise Line because it gives you the best of both worlds in one vacation.
At this time, Disney Cruise Line only offers
ground transfers from Disney World to cruises going out of
Port Canaveral near Orlando, not
Port Everglades near Fort Lauderdale. However, I see that you will not be setting sail until April 2027, so you never know what might be on the horizon! As the Disney fleet continues expanding, more cruises are going out of Port Everglades than ever before and I know that you are not the only one looking for easy transportation options from there to the parks. Make sure that you are
signed up for the Disney Cruise Line official emails to guarantee that you get all of the latest updates right to your inbox.
But for now, you will need to arrange your own transportation from your Disney World hotel to Port Everglades and back. Keep in mind that the trip from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale is going to be approximately 3-4 hours, so definitely plan accordingly to make sure you get to the port in plenty of time on embarkation day. Since the port is just minutes away from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, you will find a variety of transportation options available in the area. However, the Brightline train that connects Orlando to Fort Lauderdale by high speed rail is the option that some of my fellow panelists have recommended. Depending on the number of people in your sailing party, you may find that the train is more economical than rideshare or taxi options given the distance.
I hope that you enjoy your Disney vacation by land and sea no matter which transportation options you choose. If you have any more questions about Disney World or Disney Cruise Line, we are always here and ready to help at planDisney. Happy sailing!
