We booked a Disney cruise for March. We plan to drive in on Thurs, hit a theme park on Fri. Is there time to go to T-Rex on Sat AM before we need to head to the port? When should we leave WDW area to go Port Canaveral?

    Hi, Jennifer!

It sure sounds like you have some great plans for your Disney Cruise Line vacation next spring!  The Disney Cruise Terminal at Port Canaveral opens around 11 a.m. -- about the same time the T-Rex Cafe opens for lunch at Downtown Disney. Therefore, you really have to make the decision of where you would like to have your lunch -- either at T-Rex or on board the ship. Either choice is a great option, but of course, you have essentially already paid for your lunch as a part of cruise fare.

If you decide to eat lunch at Downtown Disney, I would suggest being at the restaurant right as it opens since it's a popular restaurant and since a Saturday in the spring can get kind of crowded. If you figure in about an hour and a half for lunch and driving about an hour to the port, you can expect to be at the cruise terminal around 1:30-2 p.m. and board around 2:30-3 p.m. All guests must board the ship no later than 4 p.m., and you'll need to make sure you plan your arrival accordingly to avoid the possibility of not being permitted to sail.

For me and mine, I don't like to plan anything for Embarkation Day other than getting to the port.  I just don't like to chance my schedule, and I like to get on board as soon as possible.  I usually will plan a few hours at Downtown Disney on Debarkation Day before we fly out or drive home that afternoon/evening. I hope that helps you plan.

Let me know if you have other questions. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
