Booked on 3rd disney cruise, Alaska next June! Trying to book flights. Cruise info says not to book disembarkation day flights any earlier than noon but we can only find flight at 11am or overnight red eye which won't work with 6 y/o. Can the 11am work?

Welcome back to the Moms Panel, Michelle!

So glad to hear that you've got something to look forward to in June 2015. The Disney Cruise Line Alaskan voyage is an awesome itinerary. It is absolutely different from all the other Disney Cruise Line voyages around the world. The sights and sounds of Alaska are breathtaking and jaw-dropping. Your packing list will also be quite different, since your family will be experiencing totally different adventures too. You and your family will have a magnificent time.

Flying out on an early schedule at 11am sounds like it might be a challenge to me. The ship arrives back at the port early in the morning, and will likely be cleared for disembarkation at around 8am. You will need to carry all your luggage with you, and be one of the first to disembark and go through customs to exit the cruise terminal. You'll need to get a taxi or private transportation to whisk you away to the airport. We flew out of the Vancouver (YVR) Airport during our Alaska cruise, and it took us about 45 minutes to get from the Canada Place cruise terminal to the airport. The route to get there is through the downtown area, and could be a cause for delay during the morning commute. There might also be those lines at the security gate at the airport. I think, an 11am flight just doesn't give you enough wiggle room. My worry in the mornings is that my family will rush through everything - double time! It's that additional stress that I don't like. Guaranteed, at the slightest sign of delay -- things go wrong... it's not a very pixie-dusted moment at all.

I would suggest taking the later flight out. My family has done several 'sleeping flights' and have had no issues. Otherwise, do a post-cruise hotel night at an airport hotel and leave the following morning. You can check out the rest of Vancouver for the day :-). I hope that helps... do come back with any other questions. We're always glad to help! ~ Dolly
