We're booked on a DCL for Jul 2011 but would like to visit a couple other non-Disney parks before the cruise. Need advice on transportation logistics and where to stay in order to get to the port easily. Thanks!

    Hi Michelle,

I'm assuming that you'll be staying in a resort somewhere in Orlando while you visit the theme parks - so to make things as effortless as possible, I would hire a town car service to bring you to the port on the day of your cruise.  This will offer you the most convenience and flexibility, as you won't have to worry about getting lost, and you can choose what time you want to be picked up.  It's about a 45-60 minute trip from Orlando to the terminal in Port Canaveral.

There are plenty of town car companies out there, if you do a quick internet search you will find see plenty of options (and opinions).  My favorite site for this type of non-Disney research is the DIS Boards.

Some people opt to stay at a hotel near the port (several will bring you to the ship on the day of your cruise), however that is one extra "move" you need to make - and you'll still need to hire a town car from Orlando to Port Canaveral.  I think it would be easier to stay in Orlando and only have to pack up and move once to the ship.

    I hope this helps!
