We booked a cruise on Disney Dream out of Port Everglades. Any recommendations on transportation from airport to hotel to port with young kids? We don’t really want to fly with car seats so curious if there any large shuttles that wouldn’t require.

    Hello, Kevin!

Welcome to planDisney. As a mom of two kids, I understand wanting to avoid bringing car seats on vacation. Since I spend half of my days taking my kids to their extracurricular activities, I also prefer having someone else drive when we are on a trip. It makes our vacations more relaxing!

Guests who book their hotel through Disney Cruise Line can typically book ground transportation from the airport to their hotel and then from their hotel to Port Everglades. Ground transfers from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are available for purchase for sailings in 2024, and private transfers can be purchased for sailings in 2025. In my experience, the type of transportation depends on a few factors, such as the port and the number of Guests who booked a pre-cruise hotel. We rode in a bus for most of my Disney Cruises, and car seats were unnecessary. I recommend calling Disney Cruise Line to inquire about your options. Make sure to mention that you are hoping to avoid bringing car seats.

Three hotels are listed on the Fort Lauderdale page on the Disney Cruise Line website at this time. The Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa and B Ocean Resort are the perfect spots for a beachfront location! The Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina is also a great option, and they have a complimentary shuttle to take you to the beach. They are all great choices!

My planDisney class sailed on the Disney Dream last year, and we had the best time! We loved racing down the AquaDuck, a 3 story "water coaster," and enjoyed checking out The District, an adults-only area on the ship (which is also a fun place to explore while your kids are in Disney's Oceaneer Club, the Youth Club for kids between 3 to 10 years old). We also loved all of the Broadway-style shows, especially The Golden Mickeys. Keep an eye out for Tarzan!

Kevin, thank you again for reaching out to planDisney. Please contact us again if you have other questions!

    Happy sailing!
    Jen
