Let's get to your question about room requests and first-timer tips before I get too misty-eyed.
Let me start by saying that
Disney's Contemporary Resort is an excellent choice for your upcoming stay. Few resorts on property can boast that they are walking distance to a theme park, and you'll be just a short stroll away from the front gates of Magic Kingdom during your vacation. Since your room will be overlooking Bay Lake, you may want to request a higher floor for the best view. I would argue that any water view room at this resort is a good one, and a higher floor will simply enhance an already amazing scene from your window. Since the views will be similar, you may prefer to be closer to the lobby or an elevator. This is especially true when you're traveling with young ones and a stroller in tow. I've prioritized being on the ground floor or close to an elevator when traveling with my own kids, especially if we're coming back from the parks later in the evening. Every second counts when you're approaching bedtime or have blown right by it!
You can make your room preferences known when you check-in using
Direct-to-Room Service, and there will be a drop down menu of options to choose from. If the request you'd like to make is not among the options in the drop down menu, simply call or email a Cast Member with
Hotel Reservations and they will be happy to put your room preferences on file. Cast Members will do their best to honor your requests, but they cannot be guaranteed.
Now, let's get to celebrating your granddaughter's first visit! You should definitely pick up a "1st Visit" celebration button for her from the front desk at your resort hotel, and everyone else can get an "I'm Celebrating" button that says you're commemorating her first trip. Cast Members and fellow guests will be thrilled to see you all proudly wearing these buttons, and you might even get a shout out or two! Since you'll be at the Contemporary, consider booking a meal at
Chef Mickey's. This is the quintessential character meal at Disney World, and it's perfect for kids and kids at heart. You'll meet Mickey and his pals while feasting on an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet as the monorail glides by overhead. Is that Disney magic or what?
If you're visiting theme parks on this trip, make sure
Magic Kingdom is on your itinerary. This park has great attractions for toddlers, many of which have low or no height requirements. Take a spin on the carousel and enjoy Peter Pan's Flight because what's new for your granddaughter will be nostalgic for the rest of your family. I also suggest picking up an autograph book and pen to
collect character signatures. I still have my book from my first visit back in 1997! Couple that with a purchase of
Memory Maker and you'll have the photos to go along with the meet and greet memories and autographs.
