Hi there ... We are booked on a Castaway Cay double dip cruise in September. My question is does the ship pull away from Castaway Cay or does it stay tied to the pier over night?

    Ahoy, Jeffrey!
Ahhhh...the magical double dip cruise - my very favorite!! I can't get enough of Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. What could be better than a cruise that stops there TWICE?

I've spoken with the folks at Disney Cruise Line, and here's what I found out: On day one in Castaway Cay, guests are scheduled to disembark around 12:30. You'll have until 4:45 to enjoy the island before reboarding the ship. (No, you can't spend the night in a hammock by the ocean - believe me, I asked!) They have a 5pm departure listed -  I was told the ship may sail for a bit or may stay docked on Castaway Cay. I can't imagine they would burn fuel when they can stay docked on a gorgeous island, but they couldn't tell me for sure! I'm sorry I couldn't get a definite answer for you, but I'm sure if you ask once you're onboard, they'd be happy to help!

On day two, you'll have a full day in Disney's island paradise, disembarking at 8:30am and reboarding at 4:45. Need to work off a few calories from all the delicious food you've been eating? Sign up for the Castaway Cay 5K, a fun casual run around the island. It's free to get a race number and participate, and you'll get a cool Mickey medal! Not a runner? There's also an Island Power Walk available, which looks like a lot of fun.

How exciting to have two days to enjoy all that Castaway Cay has to offer. You can check out all the Port Adventures here. (Some offerings may be limited due to a shorter visit on your first day) Our favorite thing to do is rent bicycles for a ride around the island. There's a lookout tower where you can see for miles!

I hope you have a blast on your Double Dip cruise - say hi to Captain Mickey for me!! - Diane W.
