We are booked at Caribbean Beach Resort for August 2026 in a preferred room. I read online that in 2026 some rooms in Jamaica and Aruba will be re-classified as preferred due to their proximity to the Skyliner. Do you have any information on this?

    Hiya Bryan,

Welcome back to planDisney! It means so much to us that you come back to visit us for help planning your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation.

Now, let's get to your question about the Caribbean Beach Resort! First, in 2026, many rooms around Walt Disney World Resort were renamed "preferred location" rather than "preferred room." This name change was to help provide more clarity on what designates each room as preferred. When I spoke to a Cast Member, they told me that a select few rooms in Jamaica and Aruba will be classified as "Preferred location" due to their proximity to the Disney Skyliner or Old Port Royale, so that may be what you were reading about. Caribbean Beach Resort will still have some rooms designated as "preferred rooms," as well. These rooms are the closest to Old Port Royale and are typically found in the Martinique or Barbados area.

I can't say what building you will end up in during your vacation, but I hope this helps you plan a little better. Before I let you go, if you do have specific requests for your room, you can make them in advance through the My Disney Experience mobile app's online check-in feature (or by calling a Cast Member in Tickets and Hotel Reservations). There are no guarantees, but if you have a preference, it doesn't hurt to ask. Please come back and see us if you need anything else.

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
