We are booked at Caribbean Beach in early May and cannot wait! I am concerned after reading about the size of the resort that it will be too large for my son who wears leg braces. Should I change to one of the Port Orleans resorts?

Your trip is nearly here - yea!!

Caribbean Beach Resort covers an expansive 20 acres and has 2112 rooms, so it is certainly large. There are also no elevators in the buildings. The resort does have a transportation system to move you around the resort itself. You can make a request for a certain area of the resort  by calling the resort (ask for back office) at 402-934-3400; I'd make sure to explain the situation.  The buildings closest to Old Port Royale (the main building with shopping, dining, and main pool) are Martinique (in order of closeness: buildings 26, 25, and 24) followed by Trinidad North (buildings 31, 32, and 33). To make a request, do it no earlier than 10 days away from your arrival date and no less than 4 days. Please keep in mind that there are no guarantees to room requests.

Port Orleans French Quarter is half the size with 1008 rooms; the buildings do HAVE elevators. The buildings that are closest to the center of activity are 4 and 3; buildings 5 and 2 are closest to the pool. To make building requests, you can call 1-407-934-5000.

So for me, I think I'd prefer Port Orleans French Quarter because of its smaller size; I think it would be much less strenuous.
