We are booked at Bay Lake Tower in May of 2017 for 9 nights. My sister may meet us at WDW for a couple days. Do I have to register her on the reservation and will she be able to purchase the Dining Plan since she is only coming for 3 nights?

    Hi Justina,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. My family loves a stay at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort! The theme is so sleek and modern, and the short walk to Magic Kingdom is wonderful.

Yes, you should add your sister to your reservation even if she is only coming for a few nights. This way, you will be able to see her in your My Disney Experience account and easily add Disney FastPass+ selections for her, manage dining reservations for her, and ensure that her MagicBand has access to your room. Disney dining plans must be purchased for all guests for the length of stay of the reservation, so you would not be able to purchase a dining plan for her for only the few nights that she is there. I spoke with a cast member at Disney Vacation Club today, who confirmed for me that you could in fact purchase a dining plan for her for the entire length of the reservation if she is on your reservation. This would give you lots of extra dining credits that you could perhaps use to enjoy signature restaurants, dinner shows, and some character meals which require two table-service credits.

If you have more questions about your specific case, I recommend that you call Disney Vacation Club member services at 1-800-800-9800. If you are not a Disney Vacation Club member, you can call Disney at 407-939-7675.

Have a wonderful time planning your magical vacation, Justina!
