I am booked for AKL and having 2nd thoughts b/c of buses and distance to parks. i'm vacationing 5/28-6/3 w/ husband, + 7 and 14yo daughters. Any suggestions? Lastly, are AKL deluxe rooms that smaller than other deluxe resort rooms?

Hi there, the Animal Kindom Lodge is a wonderful Deluxe Resort!

In my opinion, your daughters are the perfect age to truly appreciate it's many exciting amenities. While it is a bit of a bus ride from some of the Parks, you need to keep in mind that ALL of Disney's Resorts are a bit of a ride from some of the Parks. For example, the Contemporary is a quick monorail ride or walk to the Magic Kingdom. However, it is a bus ride to the Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Animal Kingdom Lodge is very close to AK Park.

While the rooms are a bit smaller, I don't feel it is significant enough to warrant switching Resorts. We spend precious little time in our room when we're at Disney. We are too busy out soaking in the magic, and pretty much arrive back to the Resort ready to collapse until the next day.

The pool is great, with a fun slide which kids enjoy. The highlight, of course, is the animals. Do you have a Savanna View room? If so, there is nothing quite like waking up to giraffe and zebra outside your room. If you don't have one booked, don't worry...there are plenty of chances to see the animals from the Savanna Overlook downstairs. Don't forget your binoculars!

Another fun activity is the "Cultural Safari" often offered in the evening. Cast Members from Africa will play the drums, tell stories, offer slide-shows, etc. Our children really enjoyed this a lot.

In my opinion, you've made a great choice!

Be sure to reserve dinner at Boma. It is one of our "must do" meals on each trip!

Enjoy your magical vacation and please let me know if I can help with any other questions!
