Greetings, Kirstin, and thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so glad you’re hEAR, and I’m even more excited for your upcoming visit to the
Happiest Place on Earth!
I can’t wait for you to see
World of Color in
Disney California Adventure Park! It’s one of my favorite nighttime spectaculars! And, I think it’s a great idea to book a
World of Color Dining Package in order to enjoy the delicious dinner buffet at
Storytellers Cafe, while also receiving a premium reserved viewing location for the show afterward. So, here’s how it works: Since Storytellers Cafe is located in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, you’ll have to exit Disney California Adventure Park in order to get there. Luckily, there’s a private entrance to the Grand Californian from Disney California Adventure Park, and you can walk from the park exit to the restaurant in a matter of minutes! Since this dinner buffet is part of your Dining Package, and you have to leave the park in order to use your Package, I don’t think you’ll have a problem re-entering Disney California Adventure Park following your meal. However, I would recommend making your reservation earlier if possible, just to give yourself more time to get back for the show, especially if it’s a busier day in the park thanks to
Grad Nite. It’s rare for the parks to reach maximum capacity, but when it happens, Guest entry may be stopped temporarily. If this were to happen, I’d recommend showing your Dining Package information to a Cast Member near the private entrance into Disney California Adventure Park to see if they can help you. It's also a good idea to ask a Cast Member at the gate if the park has reached full capacity on your way to dinner, to ask what they suggest you do if it has.
If this is a big concern for you, you do have several other options for the World of Color Dining Package that include dining inside Disney California Adventure Park, at both
Wine Country Trattoria and
Carthay Circle Restaurant. Personally, Wine Country Trattoria is one of my favorite places to dine in the Disneyland Resort, so I always recommend it to friends and family! Plus, it’s super close to Paradise Gardens Park, which is the location you’ll be heading to for your reserved viewing that evening.
Last but not least, another fun option is the
World of Color Dessert Party, which includes a selection of desserts and appetizers, beverages, and reserved seating in a preferred viewing area... I can’t think of a better way to enjoy watching World of Color!
I hope this information helps, Kirstin! Please stop by with any additional questions… I’m all EARs!
