Hi! Can I book in a WDW Resort and at the same time add park tickets but not for all the members in my party? Or should I book the resort first and then the park tickets? It will change the prices? It’ll be more?

Welcome to planDisney, Fabiola ! Thanks so much for stopping by with your question about planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. It’s always a great idea to explore all your options when organizing a trip for a larger group, especially when everyone may have different plans for the parks. I’m happy to help you understand the best way to book your resort and tickets so your vacation works for everyone in your party!

You can absolutely stay at a Walt Disney World Resort and have park tickets for only some members of your group, but it depends on how you book your reservation.

If you choose to book a vacation package that includes both your resort hotel and theme park tickets, Disney requires that all guests listed on the package have the same park ticket options. That means if one person is getting a 3-day ticket with Park Hopper, then everyone on that reservation must get the same. You can't customize tickets individually within a package booking.

If you want only some members of your party to have park tickets, the better route is to book a room only reservation first. You can then purchase theme park tickets separately for only the people who need them. This gives you the flexibility to mix and match and avoids requiring everyone to have tickets, which can save money depending on your plans.

In terms of price differences, booking a package currently, requires a $200 deposit with the balance due 30 days before check-in. Room only bookings usually require a deposit equal to one night’s stay, with the remaining balance due at check-in. Tickets purchased separately must be paid in full at the time of purchase.

Booking a room only stay and buying tickets separately usually doesn’t end up costing more overall unless there is a special package deal or promotion. However, it gives you more flexibility, especially if not everyone in your group plans to enter the parks. So if your goal is to have tickets for only some members of your party, book the resort first as a room only reservation, then buy the park tickets separately for those who want them.

Fabiola, I hope this helps you get everything set up for your magical adventure at Walt Disney World Resort! Thank you for visiting planDisney, and have a pixie dusted day!
