Hi Bernadette!
Getting ready for a family vacation on the
Disney Fantasy? Oh, I’ll bet you cannot wait! Disney Cruise Line has something for everyone, but I’d say that they do an exceptional job with offerings for
teens and tweens.
While Disney Cruise Line has not released any specific information yet pertaining to the new protocols onboard the Disney Fantasy, I’m certain we will hear news about this any day now. So I am basing the rest of my answer on how things are
currently being handled on the Disney Dream as I expect these will hold up throughout the fleet.
You are smart to jump on reserving what you can for your teen ahead of time. Fortunately, so much of what they can participate in does not require a reservation. The first thing that immediately pops into my mind are the activities and entertainment offered in the
Youth Clubs. Granted, protocols for the Youth Clubs are having to be modified somewhat for health and safety reasons. For example, reservations are required for kids ages 3-12 participating in Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab. However, no reservations are required for Vibe or Edge. So your teen can come and go from
Vibe, geared for ages 14-17 or
Edge, made for kids ages 11-14.
For now,
Chill Spa at Senses Spa and Salon has had to temporarily pause its spa treatments for kids ages 13-17. As for the
Fitness Center, Guests 14 years old and older may use the Fitness Center onboard. However, they must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
My final tip: make sure everyone in your party has input in the selected activities. Our most memorable experiences have been when everyone in the family gets a say in what we do, even if it means some time apart. My teens totally appreciated the independence it gave them, and it afforded my husband and me time together as a couple. And the unexpected fun of watching a first run movie in the
Buena Vista Theatre or just going to grab ice cream together from
Eye Scream Treats can be just as special as a planned activity.
You will be one of the first families to set sail on the Disney Fantasy when she resumes cruising. Brilliant! Bernadette, I’m wishing you a FANTAStic cruise with your family.
Happy Sailing!
Sherry
