How do I book specific rides during my visit?

    Kachow, Kathleen!

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for making a pitstop here with your question. Kathleen, it sounds like you want to learn more about the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass so that you can select expedited access to specific attractions during your visit to the parks. So let's discuss the nuts and bolts of these passes.

Kathleen, for starters, let's clarify the difference.  The Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be purchased for each park day. It will allow you to preselect 3 attractions in advance of your park day, and after tapping into an attraction, you can reserve a new one, always holding 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections at a time during your park day.  If you would like to have Lightning Lane Multi Passes for each theme park day, you would just purchase it for each Guest in your party for each park day.

The Lightning Lane Single Passes are for specific attractions and are purchased either in addition to the Mult Pass or by themselves. But they are specific to certain attractions in each park.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can purchase your Lightning Lane Multi Passes and Lightning Lane Single Passes for each park day for the entirety of your stay, beginning 7 days in advance of your check-in day. If you are not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can do this beginning 3 days in advance of your park day, and for each park day thereafter, you can make the purchase and preselections 3 days in advance.

One thing to note about the Multi Pass selections is that for three of the theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios), there are two tiers of attractions.  You can always hold three Multi Pass selections at any given time. However, you can only hold one attraction in Tier One and two in Tier Two - or you can select all three attractions in Tier Two.  The system is quite smart, so it will walk you through this when you purchase your Multi Pass and make your selections.

The Single Pass attractions are different. They are purchased separately and specific to certain attractions (usually the most in-demand attractions.) These attractions are not included in the Multi Pass Lightning Lanes. You can enjoy these attractions using a Single Pass one time per park day. Once you tap into a Single Pass attraction, you do not get to select a new one or select another Multi Pass attraction.  However, you could have two Single Pass attractions booked and three Multi Pass Lightning Lane selections booked at the same time.

For example, when we went to Magic Kingdom, we preselected Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean as our three Multi Pass selections. We then purchased a Single Pass for Tron Lightcycle / Run and a Single Pass for the Seven Dwarf's Mine Train. We had five attractions pre-booked before we arrived.

My recommendation is to take note of the day in which you can purchase your Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, depending on if you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel or are a day Guest. You can make your purchase and begin your selections as early as 7:00 a.m. on that day, and I recommend doing so as early as possible to maximize your available options.

I hope this helps you, Kathleen! If you have any further questions, race back here to see me and I'll help you faster than fast and quicker than quick.

    Git-R-Done,
    Keri
