Hi Robyn! Welcome to planDisney! I’m so glad you stopped by with your question.

Oh my goodness, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. I have such vivid memories of dining here as a child with my family and being in awe of how incredibly cool the whole experience was. As soon as you walk in, you are transported back in time to a '50s-style drive-in movie theater, starry night sky and all! Of course, we can’t forget about that food! This all-American menu is chock-full of your classic favorites. But, to me, the Fried Dill Pickles and Oreo Cookie Milk Shake stole the show! I know, I know, it sounds like an odd combination. But, I promise, it works!

Now, your Advanced Dining Reservation secures you a table for your meal but does not guarantee the type of table your party will be sitting at. Unfortunately, there is no way to ensure that you will be seated at one of the automo-booths for your meal. However, I can say that I have sat at both the automo-booth and the road-ready picnic tables and felt the experience was equally enjoyable at both! Either way, you will have a fabulous view of the screen to enjoy the awesome old-school Sci-Fi movie clips.

If you have your heart set on one of the automo-booths, I would recommend arriving about 15-20 minutes early for your reservation to let the host know your preference. You can also tell them if you are willing to wait a little longer than your scheduled reservation time just in case an automo-booth becomes available. While there is certainly no guarantee that they will be able to accommodate your request, it doesn’t hurt to let them know your table preference!

Robyn, I do hope this answer has been helpful to you! If you have any other questions as you wrap up the planning of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, please stop back over to planDisney! We would love to help you make the absolute most of your vacation!

    Bye for now,
