Welcome Home Dale and thank you for bringing a great question to planDisney! One of the things I love most about being a Disney Vacation Club Member is the flexibility to book a vacation where I can choose what best suits me (and the size of my travel party) when I like. I love discovering each of the Disney Vacation Resorts as well as Disney's other Resorts on-site, they all have so much to offer!
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter is a charming resort set on the Sassagoula River, just down from
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. You can walk the cobblestone streets, spot the colorful Mardi Gras characters around the Resort all while listening to the sounds of jazz. One of my favorite things to do here is pop into
Scat Cat's Club - Café and grab a few Mickey-shaped beignets, they are delicious!
Since Disney's Port Orleans is not on the list of Disney Vacation Club Resorts, booking with Points is slightly different as it is a
Disney Collection Exchange destination. You can take a look at the Points Chart on the Disney Vacation Club website by selecting the "Destinations" tab, choosing "Disney Resort Hotels Near & Far" and then clicking "View All Resorts". Looking at the locations sends me dreaming of a DVC vacation where I can find yet another place to call Home! Once you have an idea of where you'd like to stay, you can connect with
DVC Member Services to convert your Vacation points into Reservation Points and book your stay. The $95 transaction fee (price is subject to change) will be applied since it is a Disney Collection Exchange.
The Rule of Four will also apply to this kind of reservation which means that within the last four months of your Use Year, you cannot both book and travel with the majority of Disney Collection exchange options so be sure to keep your Use Year in mind.
Dale, I hope this information is helpful! Please visit
planDisney again if you have any other Disney Vacation Club or planning questions.
Cheers,
Candace
