Before I book a resort, I would like to know the current refund/cancellation policy. Thank you!

    Hey there, Mary!

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!

It's great to hear you're planning for a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. I can certainly understand you wanting to get information on cancellation policies before you start booking your stay. When you do begin planning your trip details, come ask us for suggestions. We planDisney Panelists are happy to share tips from our own Disney vacation experiences.

There are so many great reasons to "stay in the magic" with the Disney Resorts Collection and you have so many wonderful Resort hotels from which to choose.

Let me share a quick overview of the current standard cancellation policies for Walt Disney World Resort vacation packages and for room-only reservations.

When you book a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package that includes a Resort hotel reservation as well as tickets to the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks 31 days or more before your arrival, you would pay a $200 deposit, and the full payment would be due 30 days before your arrival.

Refunds for cancellations are based on when you cancel. A cancellation 30 days or more before you arrive would result in a refund from which any third-party fees would be deducted. A cancellation made between 29 days and 2 days before you arrive would result in a refund from which a $200 cancellation fee as well as any third-party fees would be deducted. For a cancellation 1 day or less before you arrive, the full price is non-refundable.

When you make a room-only reservation, a cancellation would need to be made 5 days before you arrive in order to receive a refund.

When you step through the online booking process, the cancellation policies are available for review in the Terms and Conditions.

If you have more questions about booking your vacation, or would like assistance with booking, you can call Walt Disney World Resort directly at (407) 934-7639.

Mary, here's wishing you a wonderful and memorable vacation to Walt Disney World Resort!

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
