Ahoy, Dotti!
We've been taking Disney Cruise Line vacations with our daughters since our youngest was two years old. I remember the very first time we stepped on a Disney Cruise ship, not knowing anything about cruising, or what kind of amazing vacation was ahead of us. We feel like old pros now, but I wish we'd known what to expect on our very first voyage on the high seas!
Disney Cruise Line has a wonderful resource on their website to help children (and their parents) know what to expect when sailing, and fun activities to complete before, during and after their cruise. The "My Disney Cruise Adventure Booklet" is a complimentary, printable booklet that helps kids learn about what they'll see and do on a Disney Cruise.
The booklet contains loads of information about many topics, including:
- Port Arrival/What to expect at the Port Terminal/Security Procedures
- Checking In/Boarding the Ship
- Settling into your Stateroom
- Ship terminology/Map of ship
- Getting to know important Crew Members/Officers
- The importance of cleanliness on a cruise vacation/Restrooms on a cruise ship
- Mandatory Guest Assembly Drill - what to expect
- Sail Away Celebration
- Meals/Dining
- Youth Clubs
- Ports
- What to expect when you disembark
- Coloring pages/Autograph page
If you visit the
Oceaneer Club page on the Disney Cruise Line website, and select "read more" under the "Registration, Check-In and More" section, you'll be able to download and print the booklet to help prepare your little ones for their Disney Cruise Line vacation! There's an option to download the booklet in English or Spanish.
I hope this helps in planning your Disney Cruise! Have a magical day! - Diane W.
