I want to book a port adventure for my husband and I (our first cruise!). But this involves leaving my kids (4 & 7) on the ship. But I can’t find firm advice on operating hours. Could we miss the tour because Oceaneer’s club/lab might not be open?

    Hi there, Joanne!

Ahoy and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am so excited that you sailed by with your question about your upcoming adventure at sea with Captain Mickey!  You are going to have the BEST time and I would be willing to bet this won’t be your only Disney Cruise Line vacation!  Your Mouseketeers are at the perfect ages to enjoy everything a Disney Cruise Line vacation has to offer, and I know you will enjoy experiencing it alongside them and will make some lifelong memories with them during this vacation.

The onboard Youth Clubs will be a great place for your kiddos to play, explore, create and make new friends and you will love the chance to enjoy some of the ship’s adult-exclusive venues (my favorite being the Quiet Cove pool or Senses Spa).  You can also plan to leave your kiddos on the ship while you explore on land – either with an organized Port Adventure excursion or on your own.  The Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab will be open on port days – early enough to ensure that you can make your scheduled excursion meeting time.  While hours of operation vary from ship to ship and voyage to voyage, you can be guaranteed that they will be open, and you can check your kiddos in while you enjoy your Port Adventure!  You do not need to make reservations for them in the Youth Club, but if you are planning on leaving the ship, I always recommend informing the Youth Counselors (and your littles) of your plans so that everyone is aware you won’t be back for some time.  If you do happen to be gone over lunchtime, they will serve lunch to your children, too!

Joanne, I hope that this information helps guide you in making your plans for your time at port!  Please come back with any other questions you may have as you continue planning for your magical adventure at sea!

    Happy Sailing!
