    How to book with points

Welcome Home, Cynthia! Thanks so much for coming back to see us again at planDisney. I'll be happy to help with your "pointed" question to explain the process for making a reservation with your Disney Vacation Club Membership. Let's get down to business!

When someone joins DVC, they purchase a certain number of Vacation Points that can be used to book accommodations at one of the Disney Vacation Club resorts in Florida, California, Hawaii, and South Carolina. To determine how many points you need, your go-to resource is the Points Charts (it's a good idea to bookmark that page!). The charts break down the amount of points needed for each specific resort and the type of studio or villa. This varies depending on the time of year you plan to travel - for instance, spending the week of Christmas in a Deluxe Studio at Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will require many more points than a week in September in a studio at Disney's Old Key West Resort

Cynthia, Members may always book by calling Member Services. The Cast Members there are always so friendly and helpful. They will be able to pull up the specific details of your Membership and assist in making a reservation for you - it's also nice to have a human to answer any questions that you have!

To make a reservation, log into the DVC website and select "Plan Vacation" from the toolbar at the top of the page, then "Book A Vacation".  The reservation process works very much like what you use for a booking at a regular hotel - you'll enter the size of your party, your travel dates, the type of accommodations you want, and the resorts you're open to staying at. From here, you'll get a list of what's available for your dates, and how many points are needed to secure the reservation (you can also filter your search so you only see resorts with full availability).

If the reservation that you're hoping for is available, you can proceed through the booking process and confirm the reservation. You will be able to see what Use Year the points come from, and in this step, you will also be able to borrow points from the next Use Year if they are available. Shortly after confirming, you will receive an email confirmation for your reservation and it will appear in the "My Dashboard" section of the Member website.

Cynthia, I hope this information is just what you need to navigate the booking process for a magical trip "Home". Thank you again for visiting planDisney, and please don't hesitate to reach out anytime if we can help with additional questions.

    Stay Magical!
