To your question, if you book a vacation package at another comparable resort you can alter your reservation by calling (407) 939-5277 and a Disney Cast Member will be happy to make the change for you. Here are some important things to keep in mind...
-You can change your vacation booking with no penalty up to 45 days prior to your arrival.
-Less than 45 days, if the price stays the same or increases there should not be a penalty.
-Less than 45 days, If the price of your package decreases, there is a $65 fee.
I spoke with a Disney Cast member to verify these change date penalties, but it's a good idea to double check if you have further questions.
