Hi Jessica, welcome home and welcome to planDisney!
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is a special place for our family. My wife worked at the Resort's Front Desk during her Disney College Program days. Our family also recently stayed in one of the new
Disney Vacation Club Cabins and loved every minute of the stay! The rustic vibes and serenity of the resort whisk you away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks. Now enough reminiscing, let’s get to your question!
In order to use your Vacation Points for a campsite at Fort Wilderness Resort, you would need to
call Member Services to complete the booking. This is because the campsites are a part of the Disney Collection. Here is
the point chart for the various types of campsites you can book using your Vacation Points. If you’re bringing a larger RV, you may want to consider one of the Premium Campsites as they can generally accommodate larger RVs. You can find further information on the differences in the types of campsites
here.
Jessica, there are some additional guidelines for these types of bookings. First, only members
eligible for Membership Extras can complete this type of booking. In addition, a transaction fee may apply. Finally,
the Rule of Four applies to Disney Collection exchanges, meaning that the reservations need to be made before the last 4 months of your Use Year for stays in that Use Year.
Jessica, if you haven’t heard of
Membership Magic Beyond, you may want to look into this optional program. Among its many benefits, including priority access to Member lounges and specially priced theme park tickets, the program also waives transaction fees for Disney Collection exchanges (such as a booking for a Fort Wilderness campsite).
I hope this information was helpful for you, Jessica, as you begin to plan your next Disney vacation! If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to
contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
