Want to book a one day park hopper ticket for the 7/12, however it won’t let me choose to start in Disneyland park first, only California adventure. When I then select just one park per day ticket I still can’t choose Disneyland park, is it open?!

    Hi Victoria,

Welcome to planDisney! Can you hear the festive cheer? Your Disneyland vacation is almost here!

When guests purchase a Park Hopper ticket, they make their reservation for the park where they will start their day. When I checked the Park Reservation Availability Calendar today, I noticed that for December 7th, park hopping starting at Disneyland is currently unavailable. That doesn’t mean Disneyland is closed; it just means you’ll need to begin your day at California Adventure. Remember, when you’re park hopping, you can begin switching between parks at 11:00 AM.

I know that might sound like a bit of a bibbidi-bobbidi bummer, but don’t let that get you down! Plans change all the time, and reservations can open up, especially in the week and days leading up to your visit. Keep checking back to see if any Disneyland reservations become available.

I hope you’ll be able to hop over to California Adventure to check out the Festival of Holidays. This winter celebration is filled with cultural traditions, delicious foods, and lively entertainment. Be sure to browse the Disney Parks Foodie Guide to see which yummy options catch your eye. I’m so happy that the Holiday Mash Bowl has returned this year!

And what’s a trip to Disneyland during the holidays without enjoying the festive entertainment? I love watching the parade near “it’s a small world.” You can catch the beautiful lighting ceremony, get a great view of the parade, and then stay to enjoy Tapestry of Happiness. This area is also a great spot to watch the “Believe… In Holiday Magic” fireworks show. As an extra treat, “it’s a small world” Holiday often has shorter wait times after the fireworks, so you’ll be in the perfect place to hop in line!

I hope this information helps, Victoria! If you have any other questions or need extra planning tips, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always happy to sprinkle a little extra pixie dust on your Disney planning.

    Best of luck!
