Hi if I book an individual lightning lane to guarantee riding it but then manage to get on at rope drop can I cancel the ILL if I don’t want to ride again?

Greetings, Emma. Thanks for stopping by planDisney!

There is nothing better than maximizing your time at The Most Magical Place on Earth by using Individual Lighting Lanes! I love being able to choose a return time that suits my needs and skip the standby line. I opt for this approach almost every visit! Unfortunately, Emma, there are no refunds for unused Individual Lightning Lane selections so if you ride at rope drop and still have an Individual Lighting Lane (ILL), you would either need to ride again or forfeit the money spent.

Another approach might be to try to join the standby queue at rope drop and then purchase the Individual Lighting Lane if the line is too long or doesn't work out for you. I have done this on numerous occasions. In my experience, though, I have never regretted splurging on the Individual Lighting Lane. The newest and most popular rides at Walt Disney World Resort are the ones that offer ILL, and I often find myself wishing I could buy more than one ILL for a single attraction. (I'm  looking at you, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!)

Emma, I hope this information is helpful! Please feel free to visit us again with any other questions.

    Happy planning,
    Melissa
