If I book a hotel reservation now if I need to change the dates is that okay?

Howdy Lisa! Welcome back to planDisney. We’re so glad you stopped by with another fabulous question!

I’m so excited to see that you’re planning another incredible Walt Disney World Resort vacation! If you ask me, it's always the right time to visit. But, of course, that goes double these days with all the fabulous new attractions, restaurants, and more to enjoy, so you're wise to want to book early. But, as we all know, life can be unpredictable, so I totally understand wanting to know your options when it comes to adjusting your travel plans.

Lisa, I am happy to say that there is quite a bit of flexibility in making modifications to an existing Disney Resorts Collection hotel reservation. Room-only reservations can be modified up to 24 hours before your scheduled check-in date without penalty. After the 24-hour mark, changes cannot be made to your reservation. Now, if you need to cancel your resort-only reservation altogether, that would need to be done five days before your scheduled arrival to avoid penalty, so do keep that in mind.

However, the modification policy is slightly different if you decide to book a room and ticket package. In this case, you can make changes or cancel your package without penalty 30 days or more from your scheduled check-in date. Modifications made 29-2 days from check-in will require a $50 modification fee (this fee is subject to change), and complete cancellations in this time frame would incur a $200 cancellation fee (this cancellation fee is also subject to change). Unfortunately, changes cannot be made less than two days from your check-in date, and any amounts paid would be forfeited should you choose to cancel.

If you do decide to change your travel plans, you may be able to do this right online via your My Disney Experience account. To do so, head over to the Walt Disney World Website and click on the My Disney Experience logo in the upper right corner to log in. Then, hover over that logo, click on “My Plans,” and scroll down until you see your vacation plans. Next, look to the right-hand side for a blue “Modify Reservation” button, and click on that to change your dates.

If you don’t see this option, worry not, Lisa! Some reservations are not able to be modified online. In that case, you would just need to call the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations team at (407) 939-1936 to change your reservation. The Cast Members on this team will be more than happy to assist you.

I’m sure whenever you can visit will be the perfect time to enjoy all that Walt Disney World has to offer! If you do end up rescheduling for any time before March 31st, 2023, you will still be a part of Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration. There is so much to enjoy during The World's Most Magical Celebration, including the stunning Beacons of Magic throughout all four theme parks. You'll love how the legendary theme park icons have been transformed into EARIdescent wonders of light and color. They really take your breath away!

Please stop by again with any other questions you may have! In the meantime, I'll be wishing you an absolutely magical visit to Walt Disney World!

    Bye for now,
