If I book a hotel reservation for 3 days and later want to to decrease to two days, do I get charged for that?

Hiya Gemma! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with such a great question!

I'm so glad to hear you are thinking about booking a Walt Disney World Resort vacation! There is nothing quite like the thrill of planning a vacation, is there? My husband often jokes that within minutes of dropping bags in the door after my latest visit to Walt Disney World, I've already popped my laptop open to book another! What can I say? The magic is always calling me!

When it comes to booking a stay at one of the fabulous Disney Resorts Collection hotels, I am happy to say that there is quite a bit of flexibility with making modifications. Let's talk first about making changes to a room-only reservation. These types of reservations can be modified up to 24 hours before your scheduled check-in date without penalty. After the 24 hour mark, changes cannot be made to your reservation. Now, if you need to cancel your resort-only reservation altogether, that would need to be done five days before your scheduled arrival to avoid penalty.

The modification policy looks slightly different if you decide to book a room and ticket package. You can make changes or cancel your package without penalty 30 days or more from your scheduled check-in date. Modifications made 29-2 days from check-in will require a $50 modification charge, and complete cancellations in this time frame would incur a $200 cancellation fee. Changes cannot be made less than 2 days from your check-in date, and any amounts paid would be forfeited should you choose to cancel.

So, to answer your question directly, Gemma, you can absolutely change the number of days on your reservation, but you will need to keep an eye on the dates to make sure you do so without penalty. If you decide to change your plans, it's as easy as can be with the help of My Disney Experience. Simply log into your account, hover over the My Disney Experience logo on the upper right-hand side, and click on "My Plans." From there, select "Change Reservation," and you will be able to make adjustments to your arrival date, the number of nights, tickets, etc. If you have any trouble with this, the fabulous Cast Members on the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations team would be happy to help. You can reach them at (407) 939-1936.

Gemma, if you decide to book a visit to Walt Disney World, be sure to spend some time in EPCOT and check out one of my new favorite attractions, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. On this fantastic 4D ride, you'll scurry alongside Chef Remy through the hustle and bustle of Gusteau's restaurant kitchen. It's tremendous fun, so I definitely recommend checking in out!

I do hope this answer has been helpful to you! If you have any other questions, feel free to drop us another question, and we would be happy to help! And remember, the magic is calling! Why not answer it?

    Bye for now!
