Hi Candice! Welcome to planDisney! Sounds like you have a special visit to the Disneyland Resort coming up very soon during the
most magical time of year! I'm so thrilled for you.
Candice, I can understand why you'd want to experience the unforgettable Candlelight Processional in Disneyland, as it is a very special tradition - around since Walt Disney walked Main Street! On the steps of
Main Street, U.S.A. train station, in the heart of Town Square in Disneyland Park, the Candlelight Processional is a unique 45-minute musical retelling of “The First Christmas." In previous years, the Candlelight Processional has occurred during the first weekend of December, which would be December 6 and 7 this year. No dates or times have been officially confirmed, (this event is not widely publicized) but performances are likely to be at 5:30pm and 7:45pm each evening, if history repeats itself.
Although the
Candlelight Processional at EPCOT in Walt Disney World provides a dining package option which allows Guests guaranteed seating, reserved seats for the Disneyland Candlelight Processional are for a few hundred invited Guests only. For Guests like you and me, Candice, who would like to take in the beauty and wonder of the Candle Processional, we would need to stake out a standby viewing spot on our own. If you are interested in doing this for the first performance, I recommend speaking to a Cast Member in Town Square around 2:30pm or 3pm to inquire about standby viewing areas. Another option, if you'd like to attend the second performance, is to swoop in right after the first Candlelight Processional performance ends (likely around 6:15pm) to claim a viewing spot. For this option you will have already needed to be on Main Street during the first performance. Be warned, it will be very chaotic and crowded!
If you're okay with missing the performance in Town Square, but you'd still like to experience the spirit of the Candlelight Processional, find a spot before showtime on the curb anywhere on Main Street or along the parade route beginning at "
it's a small world." The Candlelight Processional performers should make their way down the parade route beginning at "it's a small world" into Town Square. Of all the standby viewing options, Main Street is my preferred way to experience the holiday ambiance of the Candlelight Processional without the higher crowds of Town Square. I hope that's helpful, Candice!
If you do find yourself around "it's a small world" in the evening, you must know about the magical
"it's a small world" holiday lighting that occurs every night during the holidays. Schedules are subject to change but definitely keep your eye on the
Daily Events Schedule for show times because I think you'll love it!
If any other questions come up in your planning, Candice, like how to maximize the magic or where to find my favorite seasonal treats, please don't hesitate to reach out again! You've got a friend in me.
Warmest wishes,
McCayla
