Welcome to planDisney, Michaela! I'm so glad to be able to answer your question about one of my favorite tech tools at Walt Disney World Resort:
Disney Genie+ service. I know when you're sitting at home planning your vacation, the rules around timing your
Lightning Lane selections can sound a little complicated, but I promise it will be easy once you're in the swing of things at the Theme Parks. I'm happy to chat with you about exactly how it works, so let's jump right in and get started!
The situation you've described is quite common. Most people will book their first Lightning Lane at 7:00 a.m. and follow up with their second one 2 hours after the Theme Park opens, so you'll probably be working with this kind of time frame on most mornings of your vacation. Let's say you're visiting
Disney's Hollywood Studios and you made a Lightning Lane selection for
Slinky Dog Dash at 7:00 a.m., and then at 11:00 a.m., you make a selection for
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. If you ride Slinky Dog Dash at 11:30 a.m., you can make your next Lightning Lane selection either after you ride The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or at 1:00 p.m., whichever comes first.
You do not have to keep track of this because the
My Disney Experience app will do it for you! The time you'll be able to make your next Lightning Lane selection will be displayed at the top of your Disney Genie Tip Board, so all the guesswork has been removed from the equation for you. I recommend setting an alarm on your phone for a few minutes before this time so you can make your next selection as soon as you're able to!
I hope this answers your question, Michaela, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
Jessica
