I can book FP’s soon but I need help! If I intend to use rider swap for rides my 9 month old can’t ride, do I need to make a FP for myself for the attraction or just for the other members of the family?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Shannon! Rider Switch is going to be so useful for you and your family on your upcoming vacation. It's a great way for you to get to ride all of your favorite attractions that your baby isn't quite ready for yet.

You don't need a FastPass+ in order to use Rider Switch, but you can use them together if you really want to save some extra time. When you want to use these two services in conjunction with one another, meaning that the first riding group in your party also uses a FastPass+ to bypass the standby line, everyone who intends to ride the attraction will need to have a valid FastPass+. For example, if your family wants to ride Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom you'll split up into two groups, one to ride and one to stay behind with your little one, and both of these groups will need to have a FastPass+ for the attraction if the first group wants to enter using the FastPass+ line. When you're ready to return for the second group to ride, that group is able to use the Rider Switch entitlement to also bypass the standby line and enter through the FastPass+ queue. Rider Switch has recently gone digital and been integrated with My Disney Experience, so when you tap your MagicBand to receive a return time, the Cast Member at the attraction podium is able to check and see that everyone has a valid FastPass+. The Rider Switch entitlement is good for up to three guests, so you're able to bring back two people to ride again when it's your turn!

I hope this answers your question, Shannon, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
