Hello David, welcome home and welcome to planDisney! A
Disney Vacation Club stay sounds like a great way to start 2027! I know that keeping track of Vacation Points can start to get complicated when you start combining banked or borrowed points, so let’s dive into how those points are treated!
So if you plan on
borrowing Vacation Points from the next Use Year towards your upcoming stay, where those Vacation Points end up all depends on your Use Year. If you cancel prior to 30 days before your check-in date, all Vacation Points (including points from this Use Year and any borrowed points) will be returned to your current allotment and subject to the points expiration date of your Use Year. For example, if you have an April Use Year the borrowed Vacation Points will expire on March 31, 2027 or if you have a June Use Year they will expire on May 31, 2027.
Borrowed Vacation Points cannot be returned to the next Use Year and must be used before the end of your current Use Year. If you are still within your
banking deadline, any Vacation Points from your current Use Year can be banked to your next Use Year. Since you'll need to
contact Member Services to borrow any points, you'll want to double check with them when any borrowed points may expire!
David, here’s a bonus tip! Did you know you can
purchase One-Time-Use Points? DVC Members can purchase up to 24 One-Time-Use Points each Use Year towards a booking made within 7 months of your anticipated check-in date. We sometimes use these when we’re a little short on Vacation Points or want to add on a day to our trip (especially when we see a sale on flights!). What’s even better is you can get a discount on these One-Time-Use Points if you’ve signed up for
Membership Magic Beyond!
David, hopefully this clears things up for you and if you have any further questions on getting the most out of your DVC membership, feel free to
contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
