Can I book a dvc room at my home resort because I can at this point, but it’s a month before I can book at other resorts. Then can I change it to the new resort when the time window is open?

    Hiya Liesa!

Welcome to planDisney from a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member.  How exciting that you're starting to plan your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation –– it might feel far away, but it's going to be here before you know it!

Even if you're hoping to stay at a different Resort, I think booking a reservation at your Home Resort during your 11-month booking window is a great vacation-planning strategy –– in fact, I did the same thing when I was planning our most recent Walt Disney World Resort stay.  Because of the excitement surrounding The World's Most Magical Celebration, reservations for Disney Vacation Club Resorts are currently booking up very quickly.  By making a reservation during your Home Resort booking window, you'll be able to secure your preferred dates and room type.  Then, if you choose to switch your reservation to a different Resort once the 7-month booking window opens, you can modify your reservation directly from the Disney Vacation Club website by following these steps:

    1. Sign in to the Disney Vacation Club website using your Member Account credentials.
    2. Hover over the "My DVC" tab and select "My Dashboard" from the drop-down menu.
    3. Find your upcoming reservations under "My Vacation Plans" and click on "View or Modify Details".
    4. Next to your room type, select "Modify".
    5. Select the details of your travel party, room type, desired Resorts, and dates to search for available rooms.

Once you've found the options that work best for you, simply follow the onscreen prompts to complete the booking process for your modified reservation. That's all there is to it!

If you find the accommodations you're searching for at the 7-month window aren't currently available, don't panic –– Resort availability is changing all the time and there's a great chance that the reservation you're looking for will become available before check-in.  For the best chance of scoring that perfect room, I suggest placing a Waitlist request for your desired dates.  If your waitlist request becomes available, it will be automatically confirmed and you will receive an email with your confirmation details.  You can even set your Waitlist to automatically replace your existing Resort reservation, so you won't have to worry about canceling or double booking from your Vacation Points.  Then all you'll need to do is sit back, relax, and wait for that magical confirmation email to arrive in your inbox!

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney, Liesa.  No matter which Resort you choose, I hope your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation is sprinkled with pixie-dusted adventures from start to finish!

    Have a Magical Day,
    Amy
