Ahoy there, Jayne! It looks like you’re going to be flipping your fins with the dolphins in
Cozumel on your next Disney Cruise. This is one of my favorite excursions, so I’m glad you swam by planDisney with this question.
I always recommend Guests book excursions through Disney Cruise Line because not only do they carefully select the best excursions and guides in each port, but you know the ship will wait for you should anything happen with your transportation. That being said, you are allowed to secure your own transportation should you wish to return to the ship early.
Whether you want to go back early for a little one who might need a nap or to take advantage of the pool deck being a little less busy while at port, make sure to notify the Tour Host that you are leaving to return to the ship if you decide to do so. This way, the group isn’t waiting for you and your party to return to the bus/transport. Keep in mind, you would be doing so at your own risk and this would not alter the cost of your tour.
Another thought would be to schedule a
Private Adventure at one of your ports of call. If you truly want to set your own pace and travel in your own vehicle, Disney Cruise Line can assist with creating these one-of-a-kind experiences as well.
When it comes to the Dolphin Encounter itself, don’t forget to bring cash or a credit card for some of the optional extras, like photos. (I have to remind myself because I get so used to paying for everything with my
DisneyBand+ while on the ship.) My kids and I still marvel at the pictures the professionals captured while we frolicked in the water with these beautiful mammals.
You’re going to have a magical encounter at sea and at port with your dolphin encounter, Jayne. Should you have any other questions before your trip, I hope you’ll sail back to us here at
planDisney!
Embrace the magic,
Sami
