Hi Mary Jane!
Welcome to planDisney! Sometimes it blows my mind to think of how many incredible destinations we can choose to experience as Disney Vacation Club Members. From world-class DVC Resorts that welcome us home, to sailing the high seas with
Disney Cruise Line, and even blasting off to faraway galaxies aboard
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, our Vacation Points truly create endless possibilities for adventure. How cool that you're thinking about using your Points for a Disneyland Hotel stay –– I don't need Madame Leota's crystal ball to see
lots of fun in your future!
Since using your Vacation Points works a little differently for a Disney Collection exchange, I'm happy to share some details about the modification process as you move forward with planning. As it sounds like you already know, booking a Disney Collection exchange requires you to
convert your Disney Vacation Club Points to Reservation Points. Once this happens, those Points can no longer be used to book a reservation at a Disney Vacation Club Resort should you decide to modify or cancel your exchange reservation (they also expire at the end of your Use Year and can't be banked, borrowed, or transferred to another DVC Member).
Don't worry, though –– if you need to cancel or change your reservation, your Points won't be lost. They can be used to book a reservation for any other Disney Collection experience, including
stays at Disney Resorts around the world,
Adventures by Disney, the all-new
National Geographic Expeditions, and much more. You can find all the details about all your Disney Collection exchange options under the "Destinations" tab on the Disney Vacation Club website.
There are also a few other differences you'll notice when booking a Disney Collection exchange. While
Points Charts for these Resorts and experiences are available on the DVC website, they can't be booked online –– you'll need to give
Member Services a call at (800) 800-9800 to check availability and start the booking process. Each confirmed exchange reservation is also subject to a non-refundable $95 transaction fee, which is due at the time of booking. And finally, most Disney Collection exchange reservations fall under the Rule of Four, which means that they can't be booked during the last four months of your Use Year if your stay occurs during that same year (however, you can book during the last four months if your stay will happening during the
next Use Year), so be sure to keep an eye on the calendar if those dates are approaching.
I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney, Mary Jane, and I hope this helped to answer your question. If you think of any other planning questions, please feel free to drop in again!
Have a Magical Day,
Amy
