When you book a Disney world resort hotel is the deposit refundable or non-refundable

    Hi Natalie,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm excited to see you're planning a summer visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth. While I have stayed off-site before, I don't think there's a better way to experience all the Walt Disney World Resort has to offer than by staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. From the beautiful accommodations and delicious foods to Resort Transportation and bonuses like Extra Magic Hours and Disney's Magical Express

There are two different types of reservations for Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. The first type is the Vacation Package that includes your room, theme park tickets, and possibly a Disney Dining Plan. For a Vacation Package, a $200.00 deposit is due in the booking process and the balance is due 30 days before your check-in date. Up to 30 days before your check-in date, the deposit is fully refundable. If you should have to cancel from 29 days up until 2 days prior to your check-in date, you would forfeit the deposit. If you should have to cancel 1 day before your check-in date, you would forfeit the full cost of the vacation package.

The other type of reservation is a Room-Only reservation and it simply means you are only booking a room. For a Room-Only reservation, the deposit is the cost of one night of your resort stay. The balance is due at check-in.  If you cancel 5 days in advance (6 days for online bookings), your full deposit will be returned. If you cancel any closer to your check-in date, your deposit will be forfeited.

We always plan our vacations in the hopes we will not have to cancel or postpone them. However, many things can happen that cause us to rearrange our plans. While these are the current cancellation policies, the rules are always subject to change. If you find yourself having to cancel or reschedule a vacation, I strongly suggest that you call Resort Reservations. I have found Cast Members extremely helpful in trying to rearrange vacations in a way that best suits my schedule and my wallet.

Natalie, thank you for visiting us with your question! As you continue to plan your visit, I hope you will let us know if we can help you with any other planning questions.
    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Amy H.
