Hiya Debby,
Welcome to planDisney! I’m so excited that you are planning to visit Walt Disney World Resort this summer. I hope that
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, EPCOT’s new coaster is open by your trip in June. The specific date hasn’t been released yet, but we know it is coming this summer!
Unfortunately, Disney’s Magical Express is no longer offering magic carpet rides for Guests from Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World Resort. Don’t fret, though; there are many other excellent ways to travel from the airport to the resort. Unlike Disney’s Magical Express, all of the services I will describe come at an additional cost, but they can be a fun and easy way to get to the resort from the airport. If a bus is your preferred method of travel, then try the
Mears Connect or
Sunshine Flyer. Both services can be pre-booked and scheduled around your arrival and departure times.
Another transportation option is ride-share services like Uber or Lyft. They are very popular for Guests and allow you to book transportation to fit your schedule. Due to the popularity, there are always plenty of vehicles nearby, and you don't have to wait too long outside in the Florida humidity.
When I travel to Walt Disney World Resort, I personally prefer renting a car from Orlando International Airport. It is quick and convenient to pick up my rental car from the garage and hit the road to Walt Disney World resort (only a short 30-minute drive from the airport). I love having access to a vehicle to get around the resort and avoiding the crowds trying to use the complimentary transportation during park close and rope drop.
I hope you find an option that works best for you and your family in lieu of Disney’s Magical Express. If you need anything else, please reach back out to our panelists at planDisney.
Happy Planning!
