Hi Gloria,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for bringing your question to us. I’m so excited that you’ve got a dinner reservation at
‘Ohana. The food is so, so good, and the lively and fun atmosphere make it the perfect place to enjoy a meal with your favorite people.
Gloria, my brother is very particular about what food he likes, and I’ve seen him request substitutions all over Walt Disney World. Sometimes it’s not a problem at all, and other times there’s a reason why the menu is fixed – it really just depends on the restaurant.
Here’s how you do it: when you are seated, let your server know that you’d like to request a side of potatoes if at all possible. Dinner is served family style, so the traditional menu will still be brought to the table, but if there are vegetarian or other special dietary items requested, those will be brought too. Your server will be able to talk to your husband about his options; while I cannot guarantee his request will be accommodated, you should absolutely ask.
One more thing: if this request is connected to a
special dietary restriction, please add the request to your reservation in advance. You can do that by calling (407) WDW-DINE and mentioning that there is an allergy or other special dietary need, and the Cast Member on the phone will be happy to assist you.
Enjoy every bite of your ‘Ohana dinner, Gloria. Be sure to leave room for the incredible ‘Ohana Bread Pudding à la Mode, which comes with caramel sauce and bananas. It’s one of the best things I have ever eaten at Walt Disney World!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
