Ahoy Kym and welcome to planDisney! Isn’t it great that
Disney Vacation Club takes the “whatever floats your boat” approach to using our Vacation Points? We have the freedom and flexibility of using our points at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Beach Resorts like
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and even abroad at Disneyland Paris or Tokyo Disneyland, and across the seas on a Disney Cruise! Now let’s keep on swimming and get you the answer you need!
Kym, in order to use your Vacation Points towards a Disney Cruise, you will have to exchange your Vacation Points through
the Disney Collection. But first things first, you’ll want to look at
the point charts for the respective cruise you are interested in sailing. Note that the point values for the given staterooms are generally the number of Vacation Points required per person, based on double occupancy. The bottom rows of each point chart also shows how many Vacation Points are required for additional guests within the stateroom, based on stateroom category. Once you’ve selected your desired sailing, you’ll want to contact
Member Services in order to complete the reservation.
Here’s some other important reminders about using your Vacation Points for exchanges in the Disney Collection. Only members eligible for
Membership Extras can exchange Vacation Points for the Disney Collection. In addition, a one time transaction fee may apply for these types of exchanges. Finally, the
Rule of Four applies to this types of exchanges, which basically means you need to make a reservation prior to the last 4 months of your Use Year for cruises taking places during that Use Year.
Kym, are you aware of
Membership Magic Beyond? It’s an optional program that my family just signed up for because of the many benefits it provides. One such benefit is that transaction fees for Disney Collection exchanges are waived for those who sign up. There are other additional benefits such as specially priced theme park tickets for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, priority access to the member lounges, and a 30-day memory maker entitlement, among others. If you plan to have additional DVC stays at either Walt Disney World or Disneyland in addition to a Disney Cruise, I’d highly recommend looking into this for more opportunities to save and get the most out of your membership!
Kym, I hope you find this information helpful and I wish you all the best in navigating the fleet and charting your adventure aboard a Disney Cruise. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and my fellow panelists here at

Your pal,
